How I designed a digital turf management platform for Hauert that helped optimize field managers work in day to day responsibilities.

Maintaining healthy grass across golf courses, sports fields, and large green areas requires constant planning, monitoring, and specialized knowledge. To support this work, I designed a digital platform for Hauert, a well-known company specializing in fertilizers and professional garden care. The product helped field managers organize and document the full lifecycle of turf maintenance, turning complex agronomy processes into a clear and manageable digital workflow.

Before the platform existed, many maintenance activities were tracked through scattered notes, spreadsheets, or manual reports. Field managers needed to keep track of fertilizing schedules, aeration cycles, soil conditions, and many other variables, often across multiple locations. This lack of structure made it difficult to plan work months in advance or maintain consistent documentation of what had already been done on a given field.

The product aimed to provide a central tool for planning, monitoring, and documenting turf care. Managers could schedule activities such as fertilizing, aerating, or applying treatments over the course of weeks or months. Each field had its own record containing key environmental data such as organic content, soil acidity, nitrate levels, and other important agronomic indicators.

Designing the system required balancing two perspectives: the operational needs of field managers and the commercial services provided by Hauert. The platform therefore included features not only for maintenance planning but also for building professional service proposals that could be presented to clients who owned or managed the fields.

Inside the app, employees could create structured proposals based on Hauert’s product range. They could configure fertilizer types, define quantities, calculate pricing, and outline the scope of work required for maintaining a particular grass field. Once approved by the client, these proposals became the basis for scheduled maintenance activities within the platform.

Another important part of the product was documentation. Each field accumulated historical data about treatments, soil characteristics, and maintenance work performed over time. This made it easier for managers to understand how a field evolved, plan future care strategies, and maintain transparency with clients about the work being carried out.

Throughout the design process, the goal was to simplify a technically complex domain without removing the depth professionals needed. The interface focused on making long-term planning, field monitoring, and proposal creation feel straightforward while still supporting detailed agronomic data.

Working on this product highlighted how digital tools can transform traditional industries. By turning manual turf management processes into a structured system, the platform helped Hauert teams plan work more effectively, communicate clearly with clients, and maintain healthier green spaces over the long term.
